Chlorine is Not the Only Way to a Sanitary Pool

Pool chlorine products are not the only way to sanitize a swimming pool.

To sanitize their pools many people choose other methods to chlorine because they do not like it’s toxicity and odor.  On a regular basis it is not environmentally sensitive to use a lot of strong chemicals.  A non-chlorinated pool feels and tastes better to a lot of people.

Salt Generators

Salt generators convert a tiny bit of added salt in the pool into chlorine.   Do not regularly add chlorine.  A treatment with chlorine of other oxidizing chemical will be needed if the pool becomes contaminated. With salt generators the ph tends to get high so it needs to be analyzed regularly. It can be lowered with muriatic acid.

Bromine is more expensive than chlorine and needs to be added more often because it burns off quickly in sunlight but it is nice for sensitive skin and has no bad smell.    After mingling with harmful contaminants bromine continues to work where as chlorine becomes deactivated.

Ozone

An active form or oxygen, ozone, reacts with pollutants.  When the ozone gas dissolves in water it combines with pollutants and oxidizes them the same way as chlorine.   They are easily detached from filters because it makes them join together.  This allows chlorine use to be decreased by 60% to 90%.

Copper and Silver

That copper kills algae and silver kills bacteria and viruses is well known.   They have long been used to clean water.   After ionization by a very small amount of electricity copper and silver react with the pollutants in the water destroying them.

They also make the bacteria and algae clump together so they are easier to remove from the filter.   Regular chlorine tabletsusage will be greatly reduced but a periodic shock of the pool with chlorine or a non-chlorine oxidizer will be needed.

Summary

Most people who keep their pool safe with different pool sanitizers do so because they are tired of consistently fighting algae, swimming on a regular basis in harsh chemicals and paying for the amount of swimming pool chemical products needed. If you are interested you can find out more by searching online.

Seasonal swimming pool procedures

Pool maintenance in winter is different than in than the summer.  Cold weather with minimal or no use and warm weather mean you need to use different swimming pool care regimes.  Prevention of expensive problems can be achieved by following a few simple guildelines.

Winter

Reduced pool use when cold weather is coming signals the time to drain all the water lines and replace with anti-freeze.  The water should be drained to beneath the level indicated for freezing.

Cover the pool. Use a heavy duty cover made especially for the pool to keep out debris and leaves and lessen algae growth.   Ten times the usual chlorine is a good shock treatment to do before closing down the pool.  Don’t forget to disconnect the pump and drain the filter. Before putting them away this is a good time to test and clean any ladders, ropes of diving boards.

Safety

Make the pool safe so that it is not dangerous if small children stroll in during the times when no one is there.

Balance

The most important thing for a well maintained pool is chlorine and swimming pool chemical balance.  Balance covers the correct amount of chemicals, correct ph and alkaline balance, appropriate water movement and also cleaning.

Spring

  1. In the spring when it’s time to open the pool again, first clean off the pool cover and pack it away make sure it is dry.
  2. Drain the pipes of anti-freeze
  3. Check the filters to make sure they are clean.
  4. Shock the pool with chlorine (tablets or granules) after filling it to the normal level then scour it with a brush and vacuum it.
  5. To eliminate any algae that has formed when the pool was not in use, filter and vacuum it for a few days.
  6. Test the chlorine level and ph making sure it is between 7.0 and 7.6 and add the chlorine at night to get the best effect.

Summary

For pleasurable swimming it is primary to have good pool maintenancechlorine and swimming pool chemical levels are an essential part of this. Both too much chlorine and too little can cause irritation.  Different kinds of weather demand different kinds of care, responding to these can help keep your pool in good condition with the minimum of hassle.

Have It All Together Before Going Skiing

The need to have it all together before going skiing — meaning personal appearance and equipment — can be a really important aspect to the whole idea that one is going to ski down a hill. Looking good and being good are both equally important aspects when it comes to skiing, including what one chooses to wear on one’s person when heading for a bunny slope or a black diamond slope, as a matter of fact.

For the most part, many people today are finding themselves more and more aware of how important it is to take care of personal appearance well before they start up the ski season. They might even visit a dermatologist or purchase a commercial glycolic peel solution that helps them clear their skin. This is okay; just remember to avoid direct sunlight for the first few days after a peel.

Skiing, however, involves much more than just a little daytime up and down ski action nowadays. Some of the most fun when it comes to skiing is now had that night, and more than a few nice resorts have rigged their slopes with high-intensity lighting to make it as enjoyable experience as possible. Take a few minutes to go up and down a bunny slope to get used to the sensation, though.

Male skiers also seem to be far more concerned about what they’re wearing then is normally the case for most men, right down to what they’re wearing on their wrists. Most look for a good quality men’s sport watch that can stand up to the elements and also a fair bit of rough handling. At the least, it should be able to keep time well enough to let everybody know when happy hour is kicking off.

Much of this also leads right into the most important part of what it takes to go skiing; good skiing equipment. Skiers can be a funny group of people, and they soon become fixated on one brand of ski equipment or another, usually for a lifetime. One such brand that inspires fanatic devotion is Salomon ski equipment, it seems. And this is for all levels of skiers, it also seems.

At any rate, skiing is not only about being able to grab a pony bar or T-bar or get on the ski lift chair and get up the hill in good order, it’s also about getting down it without turning one’s self into a large rolling snowball. It’s also about looking good while doing it, including making sure that one has addressed personal appearance in the best way possible.

Nowadays, almost every skier of even intermediate or novice ability understands the need for good equipment, looking good and also being good. Men pay attention to the tiniest things when it comes to skiing, even to the kind of watch that goes on their wrists. Both women and men also understand that part of looking good may mean some kind of chemical peel. Just keep in mind the issue with sunlight after having one.
